About The Winchester Brewery
The brewery was founded on the principle that we wish to make good, tasty beers that people like to drink. Part of this means that we wish to keep our the brewing and serving of our beers as simple as possible; we use natural ingredients and the most straightforward of processes; without adding chemicals, gas or even filtering our beers. On the other hand, we are not hung up on definitions and intend to try our hand at several beer styles, although mass-produced tasteless beers along the style of Australian, American and most European popular lagers will never be our style. We even find that the Nitrogen pumped into beers such as found with Irish stouts served in the UK results in poor flavour so we hope to be able to educate local drinkers to our own, natural and flavoursome, stout during 2005.
As part of our emphasis on flavour, we support the industry's stance on drinking in moderation. Apart from the health risks, drink driving problems and social questions, over-drinking results in lack of appreciation of the great taste of our beers so please enjoy our products sensibly.
As a new brewery our premises are not ready, at least for now, to conduct formal brewery tours. We are most pleased, however, to provide information to those who are interested. If you have any questions, please contact the brewer, David Wealleans, at: david@winchesterbrewery.com.
